Morrisons accepts buyout bid from Fortress

The UK Morrisons supermarket chain is reported to have accepted an $8.7bn bid from a group led by Fortress Investment Group, after declining an earlier bid from a US private equity firm.

Morrisons is the UK’s fourth largest supermarket chain. It also operates a network of forecourts in England, Wales and Scotland – 339 at the close of 2020 (see
