World’s largest offshore wind project?

Swedish multinational power company Vattenfall has taken the final investment decision for Hollandse Kust Zuid 1-4, proceeding with the construction of what will be the world’s largest offshore wind farm, sited off the coast of the Netherlands.

The project will consist of 140 turbines with a total installed capacity of 1.5 GW when fully operational in 2023, 300 MW more than Hornsea One, currently the world’s largest offshore wind farm. Once finished, it will provide a third of the total installed offshore wind capacity in the Netherlands, making a major contribution to the Dutch Government’s renewable energy targets.

Installation of the wind farm will begin in 2021.
