A changing landscape

Russia and China have long competed for political and economic influence in the Central Asia region, and this contest has primarily played out in the energy sphere. This is despite both countries also strengthening their own bilateral cooperation, especially since Moscow’s relations with the West soured in 2014. Joseph Murphy reports.
