In the shipping world, hydrogen fuel cells are suggested as one of about 17 recommendations of good practice for future control of emissions. Other alternative fuels suggested include LNG, LPG and methanol. One particular item of interest is Azipod propeller, a gearless, steerable electric drive motor submerged in a pod external to the hull.
