Since the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) is restricted to a 50% blend limit, they currently represent less than 1% global jet fuel usage, hence their use must be increased. However, alternatives such as biofuels cost up to 3 times more. Norway now legislates for 0.5% biofuel in jet fuel, and sets a target of 30% by 2030. The E4Tech consultancy suggested figures are 22 to 45% by 2050. In the Netherlands, the DSL-01 SAF plant is to open in 2022 to process 100 000 tonnes annually of used cooking oil. In UK, the industry suggests the formation of an Sustainable Fuels Office by the government
