New guidance for looking after assets

Building on an established body of technical work, the EI has recently published three new good practice publications for the offshore oil and gas sector.

Guidelines for caisson life cycle Integrity management, Guidelines for the management of structural ageing and life extension issues for floating production storage and offloading units and Guidelines to address ageing and life extension issues for offshore structures and structural components have all been published.

Dr Mark Scanlon MEI, Head of Good Practice, HSE at the EI commented: ‘Our new good practice guidelines not only help in the prevention of major accident hazards, but they ensure asset integrity management and so reduce unplanned maintenance and repair costs.’

The release of these key technical publications coincided with the Asset Integrity Management 2019 conference held in Aberdeen in October, which explored the latest industry thinking and innovation, with representatives from major operators, industry regulators, safety bodies, stakeholders and the supply chain presenting.

The EI is a leading provider of technical publications covering health, safety, environment, fuel quality and distribution. These include good practice guidance, test methods, measurement manuals, conferences and workshops. More information is at knowledge.energyinst.org/home
