PGNiG’s first cargo of US LNG arrives in Poland

The first cargo of LNG under a long-term contract between PGNiG and Cheniere Energy arrived at the President Lech Kaczyński LNG terminal in Świnoujście, Poland, in late July 2019. Some 39bn cm of natural gas will be delivered to PGNiG over 24 years.

According to Piotr Woźniak, President of PGNiG, the company’s portfolio of contracts with US suppliers covers over 9bn cm/y of natural gas after regasification, more than it imports from Russia. ‘Such a volume strengthens Poland's energy security, but also gives us the opportunity to actively participate in LNG trading on the global market,’ he notes.
