In US, the UK initiated Reaction Engines have tested successfully the instant cooling system using the output from a GE J79 jet engine. The precooler comprises 16 800 thin-walled tubes that reduce the temperature from over 426°C to just about 100°C via cycled helium coolant in less than 1/20th of a second.
