Members: Attend our AGM / Join our Council

The Energy Institute relies on the participation and support of its members, thousands of whom donate their time, expertise and energies as volunteers in a range of interesting ways, from advising on our events and technical programmes to sitting on our board of trustees and local branch and YPN committees.

If you are a member and are interested in being more involved, you might like to consider one of the following forthcoming opportunities:

Attend our Annual General Meeting

The EI’s AGM will be held at Prince Philip House, 3 Carlton House Terrace, London SW1Y 5DG on Wednesday 4 July 2018 at 16.45, with tea available from 16.15.

At this meeting, our President Malcolm Brinded CBE FREng FEI will deliver his yearly report which will be followed by the appointment of officers and members of Council.

All members are welcome to attend. To view the agenda and to register please visit energyinst.org/events/view/5164

Join our Council

If you are interested in joining the EI’s Council as an elected member, read on...

The Council is the EI’s board of trustees made up of volunteers who give their time to govern the charity, set its strategic direction and monitor its performance.

Being a member of the Council requires you to attend four Council meetings each year and participate in an annual dinner and away-day meeting as well as serve on other committees of Council if you are able.

The Council would particularly welcome nominations of individuals with at least one of the following skills and/or experience: legal qualification and experience; ICT and digital experience; strong links with energy sector employers, especially new tech start-ups, low carbon heat or transport sectors; an experienced HR/organisational capability professional; high profile within the sector as an ambassador for knowledge, skills or good practice.

There are four vacancies for elected members, each to serve a term of three years, after which they retire at the AGM and may be eligible for re-election.

If you would like to be nominated for election to Council, nomination forms can be obtained from Helen Sullivan (hsullivan@energyinst.org) and must be returned by 17 June. The nomination form must be signed by a proposer, five other members and the nominee. No member may sign more than one nomination paper as a proposer or supporter. If the number of nominations exceeds the number of vacancies, a ballot will be held and further details issued to members.
