Energy World June 2018
What are the options to allow the road transport, rail, aviation and shipping sectors to cut their carbon emissions? Three articles from page 14 explore this question – looking at new fuels, spatial planning and technology for smart charging of electric vehicles.
The issue then moves onto local, urban energy matters, beginning with a piece that explores the community energy sector, which is currently planning new growth following the removal of some funding sources. Subsequent articles examine regulation of district heating networks in the UK and a new, experimental hybrid approach to domestic heating using both electricity and gas. We also take a look at some ‘smart cities’ around the world.
Separately, Marc Height writes on how a new partnership with government could boost Britain’s already growing offshore wind energy industry. And we include the fourth in a series of articles from the EI’s Young Professionals Networks, this time from the North East.
As always, we include eight pages of UK and international news updates, plus three opinion columns to complete the issue.
