Renowned scientist and STEM advocate Dr Dame Angela Strank is to be the recipient of the EI’s prestigious Cadman Award 2018.

Dr Strank will be the first woman to be honoured with the award, presented to an individual for their outstanding and significant service to the international oil industry, in its 72-year history. She will deliver her Cadman lecture in London in July. The Cadman Memorial Fund commemorates the late Lord Cadman of Silverdale, Chairman of the Anglo-Iranian Oil Company (now BP) and Past President of the Institute of Petroleum.

Dr Strank’s career with BP spans some 36 years occupying numerous, diverse international leadership roles after starting as a PhD geologist in 1982. Presently Dr Strank is BP’s Chief Scientist, responsible for developing strategic insights arising from advancements in science and technology, and in 2015 was also appointed Head of Downstream Technology. In 2017 Dr Strank was awarded a DBE in Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Honours List for her services to the oil and gas industry and for encouraging women into STEM careers.
