In Europe, Rolls-Royce, Airbus and Siemens have teamed to replace one of the four engines of a BAe146 aircraft with a 2 MW hybrid electric fan system powered by a 3500 kW R-R AE2100 turboshaft engine fitted in the fuselage, together with 2 tonnes of batteries which will be used for take-off and climb.
