R Stokes, Hydrogen to come of age in Europe’s evolving energy system, Energy World, November 2017, p 18

In Europe, the European Association for Storage of Energy, and the European Energy Research Alliance, are encouraging the storage of hydrogen from renewably-generated excess electricity under the title power-to-gas (P2G). A project entitled H2V 59 is planned in northern France to produce 73 000 tonnes of hydrogen annually from 200 electrolysers supplied by Nel in Norway. Other projects are planned in the Netherlands. PEM electrolyses are considered more compact, efficient and safe than alkaline types, but remain expensive.
