In Europe, Airbus Helicopters claims 42% improvement in fuel economy by replacing the Safran Arrius 2F turboshaft engine with a kerosine-fuelled 4.6 L V8 AE440 piston engine developed by Austro Engine and TEOS Powertrain Engineering. The current specific power of the AE440 is 1 kW/0.8 kg mass, but this is expected to be reduced o 1 kW/0.6 kg, compared with 1 kW/0.4 kg for the Arrius engine
