FSRU’s – the great gas game-changer
EI Singapore held an event on Thursday 26th January 2017 a presentation was given by Mr. Tony Regan, well known to many in Singapore as an LNG expert and energy spokesperson on TV entitled “FSRU’s – The Great Gas Game-Changer”. The presentation examined the rapid growth of FSRU’s operating around the globe since the first one went onto service in 2005 as well as an increasing order book for new FSRU’s and the 58 proposed floating gas terminals at various stages of development. The presentation looked at the evolution of floating terminals from integrated solutions to separate floating storage units and floating regasification units and the recent introduction of small scale facilities. The impact that these installations are having on the creation of smaller-scale gas markets as well as the development of distributed power solutions and the development of LNG as a transportation fuel was also reviewed.
