Failure rates for atmospheric storage tanks for land use planning

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has estimated frequencies for events that lead to significant releases on chemical plants. These generic failure rates are used in risk assessments for land use planning casework. From time to time it is necessary to review the
generic failure rates with a view to updating existing rates and adding new ones. The Risk Assessment Section of the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL) has been asked to review the generic failure rates for atmospheric storage tanks by the Methodology and Standards
Development Unit (MSDU) of HSE.
