UK fracking regulations – new proposals

A cross-party committee of 18 MPs has rubber stamped proposed regulations that will weaken the level of protection given to special areas of the UK countryside from the impacts of fracking, reports Greenpeace. It is thought the rules would permit drilling underneath protected areas, including 300 sq km of the North York Moors, 75 sq km of the Peak District and smaller areas of the South Downs.
